Bustier tops are this season's wearable alternative to corsets.

Last year's #Regencycore trend, which was fueled by Netflix's popular historical drama Bridgerton, saw an increase in internet searches for corsets.
The June 2021 cover of British Vogue was then revealed, featuring Billie Eilish in a bespoke Gucci corset.
While there are many appealing alternatives from Dion Lee, Mugler, and Vivienne Westwood, the corset is inherently constricting, leading the creation of a little more relaxed fitting top: the bustier.

Originally, bustiers and corsets were used as undergarments to enhance the silhouette.
The sexually charged, maximalist fashion revolution of 2021 (think: wear-anywhere lingerie, cut-out panelling, and midriff-flossing) has spurred designers to reinvent the designs as tops.
Bustiers are being supported by young supermodels, such as Hailey Bieber, who has worn bustiers by Magda Butrym and Petar Petrov.

Irina Shayk, another devotee, recently ditched her hypebeast-approved graphic loungewear in favor of a seductive mesh bustier , which she paired with low-rise baggy trousers and Both Gao combat boots.
Bieber and Shayk favor all-black ensembles.
Kylie Jenner, on the other hand, opts for white.
Jenner was photographed in New York wearing a white Rick Owens bustier top, slacks, Amina Muaddi Pernille boots, and a crystal top-handle purse only hours before walking the red carpet in vintage Jean Paul Gaultier.

Gigi Hadid is the most recent celebrity to sport the waist-cinching style.
The corset, formerly limited to the lingerie drawer, now has stand-alone strength as an underwear-as-outerwear statement item that can be matched with everything from tiny miniskirts to baggy slacks.

Dua Lipa shared a snapshot of herself in Mexico City wearing an incredible faux leather bustier top with exposed zippers.
